Sub-Accounts

Users with PiCockpit Pro can create sub-accounts (or roles), allowing others to have limited access to certain devices and scripts.

Note

Please note that this ability is only available to users with PiCockpit Pro

How to create a sub-account

First, navigate to your profile page. At the bottom of the page, you will see a button that says "Manage Sub Users".

Click on that button and you will be redirected to a page that lists all available sub-accounts.

To create a new sub-account, click on "Create New Sub User".

Then type in the user's name, e-mail address, and password.

After creating the sub-account, the e-mail address needs to be validated. You will receive an e-mail to validate the account.

How to give permissions to a sub-account

After you have created the account, it will appear on the Sub User Management page.

On the right-hand side of the page, you will see a column labeled "Actions". If you click on the pen icon, a dialog box will appear called "Editing Permissions for Sub User: "

There you will see four columns:

  1. Clients
  2. Client Groups
  3. Scripts
  4. Script Groups

You can go through and give permissions for which of these options the sub-account will be able to access.

Once you've finished, you just need to click "Save".

What the sub-account can do

Sub-accounts can access the Device List and Device Table overviews with all the devices and groups. However, they cannot add their own devices. They can, however, add groups.

Sub-accounts can also delete a device. Please note, if a sub-user deletes a device on their account, it will be deleted for the main user as well.

Sub-accounts also have access to all the PiCockpit Apps for the devices and scripts. Therefore, if a sub-user has access to a device, they effectively have full control over that device.
